How will we know we are making enough of a difference?

As part of its responsibility to create safe and caring environments, Policy 106 and the accompanying Administrative Guidelines provide an overview of how the district is to move forward with implementing Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. The district SOGI leads and school-based adult SOGI leads continue to provide opportunities for students to connect. These include rainbow cafés at secondary schools and diversity clubs in elementary schools open to students in Grades 3 to 7. During 2023/24, there was continued work of the SOGI educator resource group, including teams of elementary and secondary educators, that met throughout the school year. The focus of these sessions was to ensure that 2SLGBTQ+ students see themselves represented during classroom discussions and other school activities. More information can be found in the 2024 SOGI Annual Report.
