Tomsett's Inquiry Question: How can our students identify their emotions effectively and use tools/strategies to regulate their behaviour to develop a stronger connection to their school community, and increase their social-emotional well-being and academic success?
Their hunch was: with direct teaching and a school-wide approach to developing common SEL language, we can build a stronger community where the students feel more connected to their school, teachers, and peers; be better able to identify their emotions; and be able to use tools and strategies to regulate their behaviour.
