As we continue to work closely and carefully with the Children and Youth who are in care, we are very aware of the importance of the protective benefit provided by building strong adult connections for these young people in our schools.  Each Child and Youth in Care is assigned an adult mentor, who builds a casual and supportive relationship with the CYC, supporting the development of SEL skills and reinforcing and ensuring the connection with at least one adult in the school.

Mentors of child and youth in care at each school site complete monthly surveys to ensure monitoring of attendance, and checking in on academics and general health and well-being.
