Ready Set Learn (RSL) funding supports programs and initiatives for families and their young children aged 0-5. It is aimed at fostering positive connections between families, schools, and local community agencies. The Richmond School District designs and offers early learning and kindergarten transition events, programs and supports, free of charge, including:

  • Early Learning Family Events: Held throughout the year at elementary schools, these events typically feature activity stations, story time, opportunities to connect with other families, participation from community partners, and live performances for children.

  • Caregiver Information Sessions and Starting Kindergarten Information Sessions: These sessions provide valuable insights, practical tips, and supportive resources to help caregivers navigate the early years of parenting, with a focus on literacy, numeracy, the importance of play, and preparing for kindergarten.

  • Welcome to Kindergarten (WTK): All elementary schools enroll kindergarten students and host WTK events to support a smooth transition for children and families entering the school community. RSL funds all WTK bags and books across the district for all children.
