During the 2018-19 school year the Richmond School District was one of fourteen districts participating in the Ministry of Education’s Kindergarten to Grade 9 Reporting Policy Pilot (SRPP).
The purpose of the pilot is to:
- Trial the draft K-9 Student Reporting Policy to inform revisions to provincial legislation and policy
- Test specific pilot policy language and make recommendations for revisions
- Inform future reporting guidelines
- Refine the provincial proficiency scale
- Recommend, where relevant, future changes to the reporting policy for Grades 10-12
For the 2019-20 school year, Richmond continues to participate in the draft K-9 Student Reporting Policy Pilot in order to provide a more comprehensive pilot experience and gather additional information.
As part of the 2018-19 Reporting Policy Pilot, the District inquiry process ranged from responding regularly to research questions from the Ministry of Education, focused discussions with SRPP Innovation Grant participants, and administering surveys. In May 2019, students at all SRPP sites participated in an online survey developed by the School District. The feedback from all respondents was informative and helpful. The three infographic posters contain a summary of students’ responses grouped by grades K-3, 4-7, and 8-9.
