Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we come to the end of the school year, we are reminded that the strength of our district lies in our collective commitment to creating a safe, accepting and engaging community that inspires a passion for lifelong learning. We are proud to serve a community that values education and believes in the potential of every child.

Over the past year, several accomplishments have stood out as examples of our shared progress. These include the successful acquisition of a new school to support long-term enrolment growth, the completion and approval of the district’s five-year capital plan, and our continued advocacy to all levels of government for sustainable investments in Richmond’s public schools.

Looking ahead, the board has begun work on the development of a new strategic plan to guide our district from 2025 to 2030. This is an important opportunity to reflect, reimagine and renew our shared goals for the years to come. We are committed to ensuring this work is collaborative, forward-thinking and responsive to the evolving needs of our school communities.

On behalf of Vice Chair David Yang, and Trustees Rod Belleza, Heather Larson, Debbie Tablotney, Donna Sargent and Alice Wong, thank you for the care, encouragement and partnership you offer. It is because of your support that our district continues to be a place where students feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to learn and grow.

Warmest regards,

Ken Hamaguchi, Chairperson
On Behalf of the Board of Education (Richmond)
