Over 200 Social Studies 10 students were able to witness democracy in action during a full-day visit to the BC Legislature in Victoria. The trip provided an immersive learning experience, offering a firsthand look at how the provincial government functions and how decisions are made.
A special acknowledgment in the legislative assembly was a highlight of their visit, making the experience even more memorable while reinforcing the importance of civic engagement and representation. Throughout the day, they explored the history and significance of the legislature, gaining valuable insight into governance, lawmaking, and the role of elected officials.
By stepping outside the classroom and into the heart of provincial politics, students gained valuable insights into the workings of government and the impact of political decisions on their daily lives. This hands-on experience encouraged them to think critically about their role as future voters and active participants in democracy.
