Students and staff immersed themselves in French music and global connection through their first-ever school-wide participation in Manie Musicale, a worldwide competition where songs from Francophone artists compete to be named the favourite of the year. This engaging initiative united all grades — both in English and Early French Immersion (EFI) — through the shared experience of music.

Each match day, two competing songs played over the P.A. system following the morning announcements. After listening, each class casted its vote, with results tallied and announced the following day. Teachers also received updates on the worldwide vote, allowing participants to compare their choices with those of their peers around the world.

More than just a music competition, Manie Musicale was an opportunity to bring the Francophone culture to life. Following a school-wide Carnaval de Québec parade and bilingual performances earlier in the year, this initiative further strengthened connections to French language and its rich traditions.

Excitement built as students debated their favourite songs and embraced the joy of music. When it was time for the final match, the entire school was eager to see which song will win their vote — and how it compares to the global results.
