Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the people who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.
This Remembrance Day we honour the memory, and respect the diversity of all of our veterans. In recognition of our efforts as a district to commit to truth and reconciliation, we draw attention to the First Nations, Métis and Inuit people of Canada who have had a long and proud tradition of military service to our country. The First World War raged from 1914 to 1918 and more than 4,000 Indigenous people served in uniform during the conflict.
