Transfer applications are to be used by students who live outside of the catchment area for a requested school but would like to apply to attend there. If you have moved and want to apply to attend your new catchment school, please complete a registration, not a transfer application. Students must currently be registered in the Richmond School District to complete a transfer application.
First round transfers for the 2026/27 school year will begin February 9, 2026.
How can I complete a Transfer Complaint Form?
If you would like a transfer decision reviewed by the Office of the Deputy Superintendent, you may submit a completed Transfer Complaint Form (PDF) by email to transfercomplaints@sd38.bc.ca or in person at 7811 Granville Avenue, Richmond, BC.
What criteria are used when considering transfer applications?
Students who apply for a transfer will be considered in the following priority order:
- Sibling of a Richmond resident student who will be attending the requested school and program for the 2026/27 school year.
- Sibling of a non-Richmond resident who will be attending the requested school and program for the 2026/27 school year.
- a. Elementary – daycare (address and confirmation of daycare arrangements may be requested).
b. Secondary – Grade 7 cohort. - Extenuating circumstances.

Where are transfer application forms available and how are they submitted?
Transfer Application Forms for the 2026/27 school year will be available here in late January 2026. Transfer applications will be submitted to the requested school(s) by email starting on February 9, 2026. If you would like to submit a transfer application, you will need to do so by emailing the form to the requested school. School email addresses and phone numbers are available on the school websites.
