Richmond Virtual School is expanding its online learning model to provide students with more flexibility and choice beginning September 2026.
Under the updated model, students will be able to begin most year-long RVS courses at different points during the school year. Courses will be fully online, with no requirement for scheduled in-person class attendance.
RVS provides flexible, high-quality online learning opportunities for school-age and recently graduated students who are looking for a learning schedule that better fits their needs.Courses follow the B.C. curriculum and are taught by certified Richmond School District teachers who provide support, clear communication and meaningful feedback.
Students may take one or more RVS courses while remaining enrolled at their home school, study full time online, or work toward specific academic goals. For students in Grades 10 to 12, RVS may provide an option to supplement their timetable, retake a course to upgrade a mark, or complete required courses with greater flexibility.
Online learning can be a good fit for students who are self-motivated, organized and comfortable working independently. RVS teachers support students to log in regularly, participate in coursework, communicate with teachers and demonstrate ongoing progress.
Registration for September 2026 opens June 1.
